Major Duties

  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DLA Training in the areas of Section 508 compliance, copyright law and regulations, and the Plain Writing Act of 2010.
  • Performs editorial reviews on all documents and deliverables for spelling, grammar, and consistency.
  • Determines and verifies all content is tagged and that tagged elements are properly sequenced and applied.
  • Responsible for reviewing document's layout, design, structure, formatting, tables, and charts, including PDFs, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint files and multi-media products.
  • Develops, prepares, and conducts workshops and training sessions for Enterprise-wide personnel in the creation of presentations, updating content, copyright law, alternative text, color contrast, and Section 508 compliance for developing content.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for an Editor (508 Compliance), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Conducting comprehensive reviews of complex training publications. Performing advanced editorial evaluations of training deliverables, applying expert knowledge of grammar, structure, and content analysis. Design and deliver enterprise-wide workshops on Section 508, copyright, alternative text, and content development. Create standardized templates to improve instructional material quality and efficiency. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be found well-qualified as an ICTAP applicant, individual must possess: expert-level technical knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 compliance, advanced multimedia communication capabilities, and the strategic advisory skills necessary to align accessible training products with Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and Department of Defense (DoD) mission requirements.
